Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Festive Rooms
The Festive Rooms of the Ducal Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Family or “Rooms of the Ducal Family” are a particular attraction for visitors. These rooms highlight the history and living style of the more recent owners of Schloss Greinburg – the Ducal Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Family. The Rooms of the Ducal Family bring alive through their decoration, art and furniture, the history of one of the most significant ruling families in Europe. The works of art, which have been handed down and conserved through generations, attest to the splendor and the far reaching family connections of the Ducal House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (the sovereigns of four royal dynasties – Belgium, Portugal, Great Britain and Bulgaria – were furnished by the Ducal House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha).
Upper Austrian Shipping Museum
The Upper Austrian shipping museum is an impressive exhibition which highlights the use of the rivers Danube, Enns, Salzach and Traun as commercial waterways. Until the mid-19th century, shipping and trade along these waterways was of major importance for the economy of Upper Austria and source of great wealth for town of Grein. This extraordinary museum benefits from a large number of exhibits on loan from the Upper Austrian State Museum in Linz.
